Using the Football Outsiders Store

I purchased the PDF version of Football Outsiders Almanac 2011 and/or KUBIAK, but I was not sent the file. How do I download my order?

To download your order, go to our homepage and (while logged in) click on My FO Downloads or My Files on the left sidebar. Either link will take you to your account's downloads page, where you can download the product(s) you ordered.

I made my purchase, but when I go to the "My FO Downloads" page, it says "Transaction Received" next to the file(s) I purchased.

If this is the case, your order is still being processed by Paypal. 99.9 percent of the time, it means that you paid by an eCheck through Paypal. Much like real checks, eChecks take several business days to clear -- only when the check is cleared does Paypal tell us that the order is complete, at which point your purchase is made available to download.

Why does Football Outsiders require a Paypal account to purchase anything?

Some folks have requested a method to purchase FO products on the web without using Paypal. We've created an option for you to do so. When you go through the purchase process at the Football Outsiders Online Store, you are taken to a PayPal payment page, where you can log in if you have an account. On the left side, though, just above all the credit card logos, is a link that takes you to where you can pay without a PayPal account. It's always been there.

I tried to buy KUBIAK and/or Football Outsiders Almanac 2011 and a dialog box came up saying my order was being processed... and never went away. What happened?

Or... I bought KUBIAK and/or Football Outsiders Almanac 2011 but they aren't even listed in MY FO DOWNLOADS. What happened

Paypal seems to be having some difficulties in 2011, which is causing some people to make orders that never finish processing at Paypal. If they don't finish processing at Paypal, we don't get the information that you paid, and thus products are not available. This is a different from the eCheck issue mentioned above. If you did not receive an emailed receipt from Paypal, chances are very high that your transaction did not complete, and when you go to look at your products, you will see it says "Transaction Received" instead of the download link. We understand that this has been happening to a number of users, and unfortunately, this is completely out of our control. If you do encounter this problem, don't make a new purchase. Instead, you can review your open orders by going to http://www.footballoutsiders.com/store/history [1]. Next to any order that has not yet had a successful payment, you will see a link that says "Make Payment". This will take you back to Paypal where you can repeat the payment process. If you have trouble after a second attempt, please contact us for additional support.

Football Outsiders Almanac 2011

When will the print version of Football Outsiders Almanac 2011 be available for purchase? How much will it cost? Will there be a package with KUBIAK or the PDF version?

The printed version of FOA 2011 is produced by Createspace, and is currently available. You can purchase the book through Createspace here [2]. The printed copy of the book is available for $21.95.

We'd love for you to purchase the book through Createspace, since we get a larger cut of the royalties when you purchase there. However, if you would prefer to purchase the book through Amazon, the book will be listed there soon.

Why does Createspace have such bizarrely high prices for shipping?

For some reason, Createspace is very conservative on the expected arrival dates of books. We've found during the shipping process of both FOA 2009 and FOA 2010 that the "Priority" shipping arrives in 2-3 days, the "Standard" shipping comes in 5-6 days, and the "Economy" shipping comes in about a week.

What about Barnes & Noble? And will the book be available at my local bookstore?

The printed copy of the book is generally only available through the two outlets mentioned above. It may appear later in stores due to Createspace's "Expanded Distribution Channel," but we wouldn't count on it.

I want to buy the PDF copy of the book, but I also would like a printed copy. Is there any discount for buying both?

Unfortunately, for technical reasons, we are unable to offer any package deals which give readers a discount for purchasing both the printed version of FOA 2011 and any other FO products.

Is there a Kindle or iPad version of the book?

There is no specific Kindle version, but you can load PDF files onto your Kindle on all Kindles except for the original version. The iPad also features a PDF reader that should handle FOA 2011 with no problem.

The problem with creating an .epub version is that the tables are difficult to lay out. We are exploring the idea for 2012.

KUBIAK Fantasy Football Projections

I opened up the KUBIAK spreadsheet in [a program that is not Microsoft Excel for Windows and had trouble using the spreadsheet. Why is this happening?

As we explain on the 2011 KUBIAK store page [3], neither Excel 2008 for Mac nor OpenOffice are able to run the macros contained in KUBIAK to customize leagues. We apologize for the inconvenience, but it's an issue that's out of our control.

How often is KUBIAK updated? When will I know if it has been updated?

KUBIAK updates will be listed in a box on the right side of Football Outsiders, and also on the KUBIAK discussion board [4].

Is KUBIAK updated during the regular season?

There is one in-season update to KUBIAK after Week 3 of the regular season, but we do not update the projections on a weekly basis otherwise.

FO Premium Access

I bought Premium access and now I can't find the stats database. Where is it?

Premium access requires being logged into the site. Check the top black bar to see if you're logged in; if it shows Member Name and Password boxes, you're not logged in. If you're logged in, you can click on the Premium Content button at the top right of the page (or just click here [5]) to get to the Premium section.
