Why has KUBIAK given such a boost to Mendenhall????
Something is wrong, right? No way KUBIAK should be telling me Mendenhall is #2 RB overall.

I think this has been covered in a previous mailbag I think the main factors are: he's the GUY there - goal line 3rd downs etc. 3rd year guy ready for next level. Pitt will feature him especially during big ben's absence.

Anyone concerned about Jonathan Dwyer? He had a great game recently. I know I'm probably paranoid, but those kinds of things make me real nervous as a future Mendenhall owner. lol

On the contrary, it means you can insure your Mendenhall bet against injury with a pretty good backup. And I don't see much reason for a timeshare except to spell Mendenhall, which hardly takes away from his value.
Now if he starts fumbling again, that's when you should start worrying.

I would say Waiver Wire. He's a rookie that had one good game in the preseason. If people draft him, they're overdrafting him. The best case scenario for his FF production is that he becomes a total TD vulture, which is only a potential issue.

Interesting that the most recent update slightly downgrades Mendenhall based on Big Ben coming back two games sooner. I can see the obvious logic there, but couldn't the potential for less carries be offset by the fact that defenses may open up a little bit for Mendenhall since they have to play the possible pass and not cram 10 men in the box on every play?

Yeah I dug a little for rotoworld's source after reading that:
Q: Do you have a short-yardage back?
A: Isaac Redman’s going to get a chance to be featured in that area. He’s been very good in that area over the two-plus years he’s been here. We’re going to give him an opportunity to see if he can continue to excel.

I just took an extra touchdown off Mendenhall because I have to upload a new version that fixes an Auction pricing bug, but he still comes out third overall. I'm not too worried. "Vulture backs" almost never end up actually being vulture backs.

I looked on CBS and they only have him being there since '09. So what gives? Also, I've never heard of the dude. Is he any good? My 2 cents is they'll eventually go with their best back in that situation...which is Mendenhall

Agreed, his points wouldn't be that great for this week. On the other hand, the usage pattern is pretty much exactly as predicted. Even with Redman as a vulture, Mendenhall is getting looks in the passing game, and is not bad at medium to long runs for TDs. Plus, I suspect that throwing Redman in any time they're near the endzone will end up sucking for them, so they'll probably have Mendenhall in so that they can still call regular plays in the red zone.

Yeah, KUBIAK also downgraded Mendenhall in the first few weeks due to backup QB reducing RB value. Mendenhall will get the workload for 20+ carries, which is the main thing going for him.

So do I handcuff with Dwyer in the draft or hope to pick him up on the Waiver Wire if need be?

Re: Why has KUBIAK given such a boost to Mendenhall????
Just saw that Tomlin has announced that Ike Redman is his short-yardage back. That's not good news as a Mendenhall owner.

Short yardage back is not necessarily the same as goal line back. Plus the whole "You can't really trust what coaches say, only what they do" thing.

I'd still feel better if Redman decides to go on a tequila diet.

Score one for the KUBIAK!!!
Re: Why has KUBIAK given such a boost to Mendenhall????
Maybe, I don't know. I'm not sure we would have been so happy without the 50-yard touchdown in OT.
